WHAT a fiasco renewing your driver’s licence at this dysfunctional facility [the Korsten traffic department offices], and listening to other people voicing their anger at standing in a queue which turns out to be the wrong one and only finding out two or three hours later.
There is no assistance, such as in banks, to direct you into the correct queue and advise what is required to enable you successfully to exit the process.
Why do you have to stand in a queue for a driver’s licence renewal and a queue to pay? Incorporate a pay point after the renewal which will eliminate standing in two queues.
Pay points for other payments can be maintained, but improved by offering incentives to increase production.
This will prevent conversations between the cashiers and public or their colleagues in the adjoining cubicles.
Surely management must see the daily turmoil that is happening at this facility or is it locked into the present situation as being acceptable?
I think this institution should be privatised as the present management does not have a clue how to run the facility, does not know what efficiency is or is protecting positions as efficiency would eliminate the dead wood.
The car guards outside the office provide a more efficient and informative service than is provided inside.
You can even get the application forms from them.
Do not try to get an application form for a friend or family member inside as you are told they must be there in person. Ask a car guard.
What a blessing this happens only every five years, but can you imagine what is going to happen when we have to Rica our licences?
To all of the staff at this facility who are doing an excellent job, you are immediately recognised by your attitude and expertise.
At present, as this facility operates, medals should be issued to each applicant for successfully completing the process in record time, which is approximately four hours – that is at 7am at the outside gate, complete driver’s renewal process at 8.30am, enter the payment queue at 8.35am and complete payment at 11am.
Let us see some comments from the public who have experienced this scenario.
