Coach rings changes to EP Kings’ line-up

EASTERN Province Kings coach Alan Solomons has made two changes and one positional switch in his team’s starting line-up to face the Falcons in an Absa Currie Cup First Division match at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park on Saturday.

Former Springbok wing Jongi Nokwe has recovered from his knee injury and will start the game while Scott van Breda, who played against SWD Eagles last weekend, was not considered for this clash.

Michael Killian moves from right wing to outside centre in place of Van Breda.

Lizo Gqoboka has been added to the bench after Solomons felt he should be given an opportunity to play and Wayne Stevens was also brought back to the squad after recovering from injury.

"The pack remains the same as last week but there were just a few adjustments that had to be made. We are trying to play the combination of players so they can get to know each other on the field.”

He said the experienced players would help their young teammates.

Solomons said the Kings wanted to play under-21 players to give them Currie Cup experience.

Darron Nell, who will lead the team, said they wanted to keep the momentum of their last victory against the SWD Eagles.

EP Kings team:

SP Marais, Jongi Nokwe, Michael Killian, Tiger Mangweni (vice-captain), Marcello Sampson, George Whitehead, Reynier van Rooyen, Jacques Engelbrecht, Wimpie van der Walt, Cornel du Preez, David Bulbring, Darron Nell (captain), Clint Newland, Hannes Franklin and Schalk Ferreira.

Replacements: Wayne Stevens, Wesley Dunlop, Falie Oelschig, Wayne van Heerden, Devin Oosthuizen, Lizo Gqoboka and Frank Herne.
