LA FEMME is inviting readers to a second series of "Women with Drive” workshops, to be held in conjunction with Goodyear, Hi-Q and Atlas Security next month.
Goodyear initiated the series of workshops in August last year to mark National Women’s Month and the two presentations were so successful that they have been expanded to three this year, to be offered on:
- Thursday August 2, at Hi-Q in Uitenhage;
- Monday August 6, at Hi-Q Walmer Park;
- Tuesday August 7, at Hi-Q Greenacres.
Each of the three seminars will have the same content and look at vehicle and road safety. Goodyear group public relations manager Lize Hayward said the events were well-attended last year.
"We had a full-house last year with the women responding very positively and many who attended asked if they could bring family and friends to the event next time. This made us realise that there is a definite need among women to learn more about vehicle safety and safety on the road.”
Hayward said Goodyear South Africa training manager Eileen Gardner would explain why your tyres are so important.
Atlas will give women general personal safety tips, for at home as well as on the road, in addition to specific guidance on what to do in the event of a car hijacking.
Atlas Security sales and promotions manager Bernadette Nel-Naude will focus on guarding against hijacking, specifically the precautionary measures and survival thereof.
"Vehicle hijacking is an organised business, run according to business principles and based on thorough planning. Every motorist should equip himself/herself with knowledge that could assist him/her in avoiding hijack situations,” Nel-Naude said.
The seminars will run from 5.30pm (sharp) to 7pm, light refreshments will be provided and each guest will be given a "goodie bag” containing small but relevant gifts from Goodyear, Atlas Security, Hi-Q and The Herald.
If you would like to attend, send La Femme an e-mail with the following information:
ýYour preferred Hi-Q branch (Uitenhage, Walmer Park or Greenacres);
ýYour name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
ýOne or two invites required. Many women prefer not to drive alone at night so this year we are offering the choice of one or two tickets per reader. Note if you would like two seats, then the name, address, phone number and e-mail of the second person is required, otherwise only one seat will be reserved.
Then, write "Women with Drive” in the subject field and send this to: lafemme@avusa.co.za
Numbers are limited to 30 per seminar and bookings are on a first come, first serve basis. The cut-off date for entries is Monday July 23. The successful applicants will be notified via e-mail.
