Book funding way too little

AFTER our recent Caps training during the June holidays, our school received a CD informing us of our annual budget for textbooks and stationery for Grades 4 to 6. Who in the powers that be can please enlighten me how R30000 is sufficient to supply 220 pupils with a textbook per learning area per pupil?

On top of this, our school has seven teachers, who the department are still not paying, using delaying tactics every time they’re consulted. Please explain how effective teaching and learning can be done under such circumstances?

Where does the department expect the money to pay for all the textbooks and teachers’ salaries to come from!

Parents, please wake up to what is happening in our schools.

Don’t listen to empty promises regularly broadcast on radio stations.

Appalled teacher (name supplied), Port Elizabeth

In the problem is most prevelant in the "previously disadvantaged schools" where they mostly vote ANC, and they carry on voting for this BAD SERVICE, shame!!

One way to get cheaper books might be for pupils to join my free Yahoo Group Findabook. People can join by searching for Yahoo Groups on the internet and then, when it says "Find a Yahoo! Group" just type in Findabook.
