EASTERN Province school rugby stars Sergeal Petersen and Aidon Davis have been named in a 28-man South African Schools rugby squad to face European opposition next month.
Petersen (Grey High) and Davis (Daniel Pienaar) were both part of the unbeaten Eastern Province team in the Craven Week earlier this month.
They were both named by Saru in the elite squad after a set of trial matches at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park on Saturday.
South Africa’s best schoolboy players will be in action in three internationals in August when they face the U18 teams of England, Wales and France.
Powerful Blue Bulls prop Pierre Schoeman is the captain and SA U20 flyhalf Handre Pollard the vice-captain.
Peter Jooste, convener of the national selectors, said he was satisfied with the group of talented young players. "The final selection was very difficult
"The selectors are satisfied that we have selected the best possible SA Schools squad.
