EASTERN Province tenpin star Wayne Jones bowled the highest game, of 299, at the interprovincial tournament held in Johannesburg at the weekend.
Jones was just one pin short of the perfect game of 300, which consists of 12 consecutive strikes in a game.
National women’s bowler Marika van der Berg, with a pin-fall of 4920 at average of 197, finished second, while third place went to Wanda Basson with 4860 pins at an average of 194.
The men took home gold, with the women grabbing silver. The team was awarded silver overall.
