ON the TV show, Special Assignment, it was reported that doctors had carried out sterilisation on patients without their knowledge. In this same vein The Sacramento Bee reports two neurosurgeons have been banned by the University of California from doing human research after they conducted an unauthorised experiment on terminally ill patients between October 2010 and March last year.
In the United States there has been an uproar regarding shock treatment, drugging of pupils with Ritalin and so forth.
Fortunately there are sites such as http://health. groups.yahoo.com/group/wildestcolts/ opposing this sort of thing and hopefully South Africa will start such groups to deal with our own problems.
