Boyfriend held after U'hage mom's death

FOR years, a KwaNobuhle mother allegedly suffered domestic abuse at the hands of her boyfriend, Simphiwe Madolo, who continuously declared his love for her.

Now, Nomboniso Swelindawo, 36, is dead.

And the man who promised to love her forever is accused of murdering her.

Yesterday, Swelindawo’s family were still battling to come to terms with her gruesome death.

Her eldest daughter Xolelwa, 20, said the beatings had been going on for a long time but her mother was reluctant to lay a complaint with the police.

"I decided to move out of our home as the beatings became too much for me.

"It pained me to see my mom being beaten to a pulp by someone who claimed to love her.

"In 2009, he beat her until she passed out and thinking that she was dead he tried to burn her abdomen with a two plate stove ... My mother wanted to leave him but he would threaten to kill her,” she said.

The two were last seen drinking together at a tavern in KwaNobuhle on Friday.

It is not clear what happened next, but they arrived at an ex-boyfriend’s house, where the suspect started assaulting her.

The ex-boyfriend was not home at the time. The suspect forced Swelindawo into the house through a back window, then entered the house through the window and stabbed her seven times.

Neighbours who heard the commotion then alerted Xolelwa and police.

"When I got to the house of an ex-boyfriend she was lying in a pool of her blood and she had several holes in her body,” she said.

Warrant Officer Gerda Swart confirmed that a murder case was being investigated.

She said a suspect had appeared in the KwaNobuhle Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder and the case was postponed to August 17.

Why did Bonnie's family allow this to happen to one of their own. They should have beaten this scum long ago. It's too late now 'cause their child is gone and in such a painful way
