Missing fishing boat: body of boy, 8, found

10 August 2012
The body of an 8-year-old boy was found on Friday (10/08/2012) morning after a fishing boat disappeared in Plettenberg Bay, in the Western Cape, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said.

Spokesman Craig Lambinon said four other people were still missing.

The boat failed to return to shore on Thursday night after fishing on the Keurbooms river.

Four men, a woman and her 8-year-old son were onboard.

Lambinon said the boy’s body was found in between two river mouths, close to where his mother’s body was found on Thursday evening.

It was unclear what happened but the boat was believed to have washed out through the river mouth.

"The NSRI are not speculating as to what may have caused this incident or if the boat had capsized,” said Lambinon. - Sapa
