Pearson to host Twizza festival

SEVERAL schoolboy cricket teams will make an early start to the forthcoming season when Pearson host their annual tournament for the fifth time, starting on Thursday.

The Summerstrand school will be hosting nine teams in the Twizza Festival and they will play a series of limited overs matches.

The festival has been increased to three days and will kick off with some Twenty20 matches. Friday's matches will have a declaration format, with 120 overs to be played on the day.

The team batting first will have a compulsory declaration after 65 overs. On Saturday, the matches will be played over 45 overs a side.

The fixtures released yesterday are:

Thursday, Twenty20, 8.30am: Pearson v Marlow (Pearson A), VP v Union High (Pearson B)

1pm: Pearson v Union High (Pearson A), Marlow v Invitation XI (Pearson B), Framesby v VP ( Framesby A), Westering v St Dominic's (Westering A)

Friday, declaration match, 9am: Pearson v Westering (Pearson A), St Dominic's v Cradock (Pearson B), Framesby v Union (Framesby A), Marlow v VP (NMMU 2nd Ave)

Saturday, 45 overs, 9am: Pearson v Cradock (Pearson A), St Dominic's v Union (Pearson B), Framesby v Marlow (Framesby A), Westering v VP (Westering A)
