ST GEORGE'S and Motherwell Academy shared the honours in the PE Football Association Junior Cup Finals at the Westbourne Oval on Sunday.
St George's won three of the five finals, with Motherwell winning the remaining two.
In the under-9 final, St George's thumped St Dominic's Priory 5-0 after leading 2-0 at the break. They went into another goalscoring spree in the u-11 final, thrashing Callies 5-1.
In the third match, Motherwell Academy came from behind to beat FC Mabayibone 2-1 to lift the u-13 trophy. Vuyolwethu Raba gave Mabayibone the early lead but their joy was short-lived as Liyema Lungu put Motherwell on level terms three minutes later. Soon afterwards, Akhona Lucwaba scored the winner.
St George's picked up their third piece of silverware when they beat Higbbury 3-0 in the u-15 final. Goals by Lungisa Manyeli and Zitha Mfihlo gave them a 2-0 lead at the break. Xolisa Njamela added the third in the second half.
Sive Sondesi scored the only goal of the match early in the first half to give Motherwell Academy a 1-0 win over Callies and the u-17 trophy.
The Pefa junior management committee used the very successful Cup Finals day as a fundraiser.
