Councillors don't see Bay deteriorating

WHEN meeting relatives from abroad at the Port Elizabeth Airport, I hope they arrive at night so their first impression isn't that of goats and cattle grazing in the flower beds, surrounded by litter everywhere. Then again, do I want them landing at night when all the potholes can't be seen as the street lights aren't working?

I will make sure that they never ever go down to Kings Beach to see the multimillion rand "lake" which is now clogged and covered in green slimy growth so thick that debris now lies on top instead of settling down at the bottom of the water. This surely reflects on our city councillors.

Do they never travel further than from their homes to the City Hall and back, and are thus shielded from what the average citizen has to view and endure on a daily basis? Does anyone believe that they deserve their astronomical salaries and perks? Just wondering.
