Thrills as shoot-outs decide matches

THE thrilling finishes in the early rounds of the Nodefa Pre-season Tournament continued at the weekend.

In the first match played at the Jabavu Stadium on Saturday, Premier League runners-up City Style thrashed Argentina Stars 4-1.

The next three matches ended in nail-biting penalty shoot-outs.

Kabah United Brothers beat Jamaican Stars 5-3 after the teams were tied 0-0 at the end of regulation time. In an even closer match, Flamingo ousted Young Culture 5-4. Full-time score was also 0-0.

Golden Chiefs beat All City Stars 5-3. The score at the end of regulation time was 2-2.

Really Rangers edged out Uitenhage Eagles 2-1.

The rest of the matches were one-sided. The biggest surprise was Highland Spurs' 3-0 win over Young Callies, who finished second in the First Division.

New City Stars thumped Reservoir Strikers 4-1. Uitenhage Stars beat Despatch Pioneers 2-0.

The quarterfinals will be played next week.

TOMORROW Stars 1 won the Mofa Build It Pre-season tournament yesterday when they beat Real Strikers 2-0.

In the semifinals Stars beat Crystal Palace 4-3 on penalties after the teams were tied at 0-0 at the end of regulation time. Strikers advanced to the finals with a 2-0 win over Tomorrow Stars 2.
