THE headline "Whites hog the jobs", (September 12) is provocative and misleading, clearly designed to inflame rather than inform.
The reason why some population groups hold a greater proportion of jobs in the formal sector is simply because they value education more highly than others, demonstrate self discipline and trustworthiness, and are thus more competent to manage corporate affairs.
The mess resulting from the appointment of unqualified cadres in central, regional and local government bears testimony to this statement of fact.
A responsible account would have used the information to urge our people to take charge of and protect their schools, and to work with the teachers to ensure school attendance and discipline.
