WHAT a fantastic start to Tourism Month 2012 we had on Friday September 7. We thank all the members of the public as well as tourism product owners who participated in the events hosted by Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism.
On Friday September 7 we did a sunset township experience where we took 52 local tourists with us to New Brighton and Zwide. The experience included a first for many people such as a taste of liver, amasi and roosterkoek, and ended with a traditional tshisa nyama in Zwide.
The Tourism Month programme continued on Saturday September 8 with a South End Museum heritage tour and we hosted 40 local tourists on this historical tour around South End.
The aim and purpose of Tourism Month is to make locals tourists in their own city and we wish to encourage participation in the rest of our events we will be hosting. Look out for our Nelson Mandela Bay pass which will enable visitors to experience local attractions and activities at reduced rates.
