THE South African Masters baseball tournament will be held from October 9-13 in Despatch. This will be the first time the masters event will be held in Eastern Province.

The tournament will be divided into four divisions – junior masters, social masters, elite masters and vets masters. In total, about 20 teams will compete in the event.

Leading up to the tournament, there will be games played today and next Friday at the Despatch Rugby Club (6pm and 7.30pm). Inquiries: Marius Lourens (083-656-1477).


IN the Nelson Mandela Bay table tennis league this week, Selvan Sammy and Monde Cola excelled for Olympia A to secure a resounding victory over St Marks and St Johns, winning 9-2.

The other match between Aryan C and NMMU A was an exciting affair, Dean Bailey (Aryan C) winning all his matches to lead them to an 8-3 win. He had a tough encounter with Thembelani Magodla, winning 13-11 11-9.

The last match between Aryan D and NMMU B was also exciting, with the varsity side winning 7-4.



THE NMMU Judo Club will host an open tournament next Saturday (9am). The event will take place at the Missionvale campus sports centre.

The entry fee is R25 and the weigh-in will be from 7am to 8am.

All clubs are asked to provide technical officials or referees.



ROVER Motocross will host the final leg of the full throttle motocross championship tomorrow.

Junior and senior riders will battle it out for the title, with racing starting at 9.30am.

The entrance fee is R30, but children under 13 can go in for free.
