WITH the long weekend here, there are several events for local roadrunners to look forward to, including the Algoa Bus Heritage Day 5km fun run on Monday.
But first of all, the programme will kick off with the Despatch Super Spar 10km road race tomorrow at 7am.
This event is part of the prestige and participation leagues and will also incorporate a 5km fun run, starting at 7.15am.The start is in Rabie Street, Despatch, and runners can look forward to a route which is flat and fast.
Entries and registration can be done at the starting venue tomorrow from 5.30am to 6.45am.
The action moves to Kings Beach on Monday with the Algoa Bus 5km run starting at 7.15am, with a cut-off time of 75 minutes.
This event, organised by PE Amateur Athletic Club, is aimed at all family members, but it is also an official EP road race so there is sure to be some strong competition.
The Heritage 5km run is part of a fun day of activities at the Summerstrand beachfront, tieing in with a braaivleis competition and Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism's Amazing Race event, which shares the starting point of the 5km run, but will get under way at 9am.
The breakfast braai competition is limited to 10 teams and skottels and Webers should be used as no open fires will be allowed.
Fires should be lit by 6.30am and judging will be at 8.30am.
In addition, Bay TV will be celebrating their first birthday in Happy Valley and those who take part in the Heritage run, the braai competition and Bay TV's birthday bash can enter their names in a competition, the winner of which will receive a party bus, sponsored by Algoa Bus.
