Bay needs a professional manager

THE South African majority continues to amaze one! Menzi Mduma, of the ANC and ANCYL, epitomises the inability and/or unwillingness to recognise the source of the underlying problem faced by our poorly managed municipalities ("Faku a legally elected ANC leader", September 19).

A municipality is no different from any large business. It needs independent, highly educated professional managers to run it.

That is precisely what his ruling party refuses to allow.

Everyone is well aware that almost all the municipalities are poorly managed or indeed even insolvent.

Mduma says: "Allow me to tell [Zanoxolo] Wayile that he was not employed to be the mayor, he was deployed."

If he had been employed purely due to his professional training and undisputed expertise as a manager, being based on his competitive experience and business knowledge, then obviously the city would stand a chance of being well run.

Because of deployment this simply does not happen. No wonder Mduma's own people continue to be denied upliftment of their standard of living.

Time to wake up, ANC supporters!
