Kings reshuffled for Leopards clash

26 September 2012
George Byron

CENTRE Tiger Mangweni will captain a reshuffled EP Kings team when they play their final league match in the Absa Currie Cup First Division against the Leopards in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

Mangweni takes the place of regular skipper Luke Watson, who has been given a break ahead of the Kings' vital First Division playoff and promotion matches next month.

With the Kings opting to use their rotational policy against the Leopards, only four players who started against the Pumas last week make this Saturday's starting line-up.

Samoan wing Paul Perez, who was red-carded against the Pumas last week, was not named in the squad and an inquiry into his sending off is still pending. His place has been taken by Norman Nelson. Saturday's game against the Leopards is of academic interest only, because the Kings cannot be overtaken at the top of the table even if they lose.

The talented Michael Killian returns at fullback while Siyanda Grey gets an opportunity to start, which he has not had yet. In another switch, flyhalf Wesley Dunlop comes off the bench to replace George Whitehead.

Wing Marcello Sampson and scrumhalf Scott Mathie both retained their places in the starting line-up. It was also decided to give hooker Hannes Franklin a break.

The EP team is: Michael Killian, Marcello Sampson, Siyanda Grey, Tiger Mangweni (capt), Norman Nelson, Wesley Dunlop, Scott Mathie, Jaco Engels, Bobby Dyer, Andre Schlechter, Wimpie van der Walt, Wayne van Heerden, Rynier Bernardo, Mpho Mbiyozo (v-capt), Devin Oosthuizen. Replacements: Frank Herne, Lizo Gqoboko, Darron Nell, Boetie Brits, Falie Oelschig, George Whitehead, Wayne Stevens.
