WHAT looked like an easy game for Aryan A turned into a tight 6-5 win over NMMU A in the table tennis league this week.
NMMU's Bjoern Uhlenbusch, with excellent execution of top spins and defensive strokes, was in fine form, winning all his games as the match was decided on the last doubles of the night.
Aryan A captain Rajesh Bhana played an important role by deciding to use fourth player Thiagasen Pather to team up with Neil Hendricks in the last doubles, and they went on to win 11-8 11-4.
Despite Nebba Ncebo from Olympia D winning all his matches, they could not match Aryan D, going down 7-4.
With only two players from Aryan E pitching up for the match against NMMU B, the games were close. Although Claude Lawack from Aryans E won all his matches, it was not good enough to secure a victory as NMMU won 6-5.
