Back to the pool for Paralympic star

28 September 2012
PARALYMPIC breaststroke silver medallist Kevin Paul will be participating in the 41st Aquabear Gala to be held from today to Monday at the Newton Park swimming pool.

It is the biggest club gala in the Eastern Cape, with 570 swimmers from 26 clubs from across the country taking part. Along with Paul, Christopher Reid is the other leading swimmer from Aquabear taking part in his home gala.

Reid is regarded as one of the top 16-year-old swimmers in the country.

Paul said he had not been in the pool since the Paralympics but was looking forward to taking part in his club's annual gala.

There will be three sessions each day. The morning session from 9am to noon will feature the senior heats and the disabled swimmers.

The second session starts at 1pm and will focus on junior finals.

The evening session from 6pm will feature the seniors finals.
