TO Michael du Plessis, of Parsons Hill, Port Elizabeth:
I refer to your letter, "Noise keeps fans away" (September 27), wherein you raise your concerns about the loudness of the music and the sound system during EP Kings matches played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
While we take note of your comments, it is important to point out that, as the management company that operates the stadium, Access Management is not at liberty to instruct tenants who hire the stadium with regard to any of the aspects of their event.
Matters relating to the event, such as – in this instance – the music that is played, or the sound levels at which music is played or announcements made – are entirely the responsibility of the particular event organiser who hires the venue for a specific event and/or match.
In the instance you are referring to, namely EP Kings rugby matches, all event organisation is handled by the EP Kings Rugby Union. May I suggest that any concerns you have relating to matches under their jurisdiction, be referred directly to them?
We have, in the meantime, forwarded your letter of complaint to them for action. We look forward to your speedy return to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Buli Ngomane, general manager, corporate affairs, Access Management
