DAVID Livingstone emerged triumphant in the Bethelsdorp Twenty20 schools cricket competition played at NMMU last week, defeating St Thomas in the final.
In the early rounds, Livingstone showed their intentions by defeating defending champions Chatty.
They followed that up with a solid win over Sanctor in the semifinals, restricting their opponents to 73 for two and then overhauling that total with six wickets in hand.
Hosts Bethelsdorp were knocked out by Woolhope in the preliminary rounds, but Woolhope themselves then came unstuck against St Thomas in the semifinals.
Woolhope could manage only 58 in 18.3 overs and St Thomas cruised to victory by eight wickets.
In an exciting final, St Thomas did well to reach 106 in their 20 overs, but Livingstone proved equal to the task and reached their target with three balls remaining.
Summarised scores:
St Thomas 106 in 20 overs (Herman 36, Alwyn 20); David Livingstone 107/6 in 19. 3 overs (Renaldo 31no, Severiano 22, Odwa 2/12, Sendrick 2/17).
