Do union officials get paid?

RECENTLY that working class hero, Zwelinzima Vavi, was shown on TV leading a group of strikers and proclaiming they would strike for six months if necessary.

Now we know that Comrade Vavi's salary of R500000 a year qualifies him as a fat cat, but we should also like to know whether he forgoes his salary when the workers strike and are not paid.

You must be joking. They get paid no matter where they are or what they do. It's just the poor workers that get milked out of their hard earned cash 'cause the Union fees get deducted anyway
