I WAS on flight TG991 and I can confirm they announced they were looking for a doctor or nurse and said it was an emergency ("EL nurse in dramatic mid-flight rescue", October 4).
I have flown Thai Airways for more than 10 years and they are never dramatic. I was awake when the announcement was made as I was not well, but 90% of the plane's passengers was asleep so there was not much action.
I did see them escort the woman who assisted to the front and I am sure it was serious. I am sure that Di Nicolay must have saved the day.
The Thai people do downplay a lot and I am just glad the hostess is OK.
Thanks for a great newspaper.
