League, Cup double for Callies after beating Acemates

CALLIES completed the Pefa Premier League and Cup double at the NMMU Stadium on Saturday when they beat Central Acemates 2-1.

The defending champions led 2-0 at the break with an own goal and the second by Kurt Peterson.

In the first match of the Cup Finals Day, Mustangs thrashed NMMU Madibaz in the women's final.

In the second final, Callies picked up their second trophy when their Hackers beat St George's Colts in the First Division final.

Callies then missed their third trophy when Forresters beat them 2-1 in the Premier Reserve final.

In the Promotion League, NMB Municipality beat PE SAPS 2-1 after extra time.

DEFENDING champions Ikamva continued their excellent start to the season at the weekend, picking up maximum points from their double- header.

On Saturday they beat NU29 United 2-0 and yesterday they thumped City Rangers 4-0.

Movers have now scored 11 goals with just one against in their three matches.

GLENVILLE and Rangers will clash in the finals of the Nafa Mala Moodaley KO Cup competition on Sunday after winning their respective semifinals at the Finnis Street fields yesterday.

Glenville scored the winner in the dying minutes of the match to beat Blackpool 1-0.

In the quarterfinals on Saturday, Blackpool thumped First Division outfit Westham 4-0 after leading 3-0 at the break.

Nathan Jones, Johnneton Pokbas and Denver Kroukamp (2) scored for Blackpool.

They could have added to the score but their goalkeeper squandered a penalty.

In their quarterfinal Glenville edged out the winners of the inaugural competition, Stardrift, 2-1.

In their semifinal Rangers beat Wolves 2-1.

NEBFA Premier League defending champions PE United's poor form in the new season continued on Saturday when they lost 2-0 to CCX Callies to suffer their fourth straight defeat.

After losing their opening two matches, they lost to Pefa champions Callies in the playoffs for a place in the regional Safa SAB League last Wednesday.

Real White City scored the biggest win in the league at the weekend when they thumped Stinging Bees 4-1.
