Motor shows rev up fund support

11 October 2012
Herald Reporter

THE Herald Christmas Cheer Fund is revved up with support from two top motor shows taking place in Port Elizabeth this week.

The annual fundraising initiative is supported by the South African Automotive Week, which is being held at the Boardwalk in Summerstrand and ends on Saturday, and also by the Petrol Head Paradise Moto Show, taking place at the Moffett on Main Lifestyle Centre until Sunday.

The SA Automotive Week is a gathering of all major players in the trade, manufacturing and related sectors. Stall holders have been challenged to match or improve the donation of R5000 made to the Christmas Cheer Fund by the Automotive Week organisers.

Dylan Piatti, manager of Deloitte, who brought the Formula 1 simulator car to the SA Automotive Week, said: "The car is the same dimensions as a Formula 1 vehicle and can be adjusted for drivers of different sizes ... It is the only one of its kind in South Africa."

The Petrol Head Paradise Moto Show, in association with the Oil Centre, will be showcasing their Millionaires Boy Club Arena, which includes exotic vehicle brands such as Porsche, Nissan GTR and Ferrari.

The Hot Bod Garage will head up the Pimp Your Wife Arena, while vintage cars will be displayed around the food court.

The Hot Wheels Street stalls aisle at the expo will be supporting the "I Wear Red Socks on Fridays" charities and a percentage of the sock sales will also be donated to The Herald Christmas Cheer Fund.
