CURVES is waiving joining fees in partnership with Pink Drive for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The women's fitness centre has pledged to lend its support to Pink Drive in an effort to raise funds for vital research and support programmes in South Africa and to educate women on breast cancer issues.
Curves is committed to helping to raise money for the charity through a series of events and initiatives throughout the month of October. Curves will also promote the importance of early detection and prevention in its clubs by encouraging mammograms, self-breast exams and regular physical exercise.
During this whole month, joining fees will be waived for new members when they bring in proof of recent mammograms or if they make R200 donations to Pink Drive.
With one in eight women at risk of developing breast cancer, Curves and its members cannot afford to ignore such a life-threatening health matter.
They are committed to not only supporting research through funding, but also to increasing awareness by encouraging new and existing members to be breast-aware and to lower their risk through exercise.
Curves has been specially designed for women.
They have a complete 30-minute cardio and strength training programme proven to be clinically effective with a positive effect on body composition, metabolism and resting heart rate.
Curves appeals to women of all ages wanting fitness routines that differ from typical gyms.
The women's fitness centres are ideal for women struggling with body weight and fitness, and those who find traditional gyms intimidating. The Curves environment is also good for women who don't want to exercise with men because of personal beliefs.
Founders Gary and Diane Heavin are considered the innovators of the express fitness phenomenon that has made exercise available to millions of women globally, many of whom are in a gym for the very first time.
With thousands of clubs worldwide, Curves is the world's largest fitness franchise. Many clubs now also offer the new Curves® Circuit with Zumba Fitness®.
