Ambulance drivers stage picket in PE

DISGRUNTLED Port Elizabeth metro ambulance drivers picketed outside their Korsten headquarters in Lindsay Road yesterday, demanding to be paid overtime and night-shift allowances.

At the same time, their employers threatened to act against drivers without public driver permits (PDP).

The drivers – most of them affiliated to the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) – said that for the past six years the employer has been making empty promises and had failed to address their grievances.
