Queenstown guesthouse first in the world

THE owner of a guesthouse in Queenstown has made the Eastern Cape proud after winning first prize in a category at the World Luxury Hotel awards in Malaysia.

Since Maria Nyawula bought the guesthouse, Victoria Manor, in 2006, she has won numerous awards, including the Hidden Treasure Award earlier this year, and the Businesswoman Achiever's Award last year.

She came third in the 2009 National Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year awards, and won third place in the Local Achievers' Awards in 2007.
