Improving the well-being of businesses

IF not managed properly, HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) could lead to high absenteeism in the workplace, a drop in productivity levels, low employee morale and a financial crisis.

So says South African Business Coalition on HIV/Aids (Sabcoha) chief executive Brad Mears, who launched the coalition's Eastern Cape business sector strategic plan for HIV, TB and STIs for 2012 to 2016.

In the past two years Sabcoha has invested R1.8-million in the Eastern Cape. A total of 22 interventions were identified but the top 10 priorities included:
