Matrics 'ready' as finals start

MORE than 87000 Eastern Cape matriculants will start their final exams today. The province's matriculants – 69098 full- time and 18665 part- time – kick off with the English first paper this morning, followed by Dramatic Art, which some will write this afternoon.

And despite some high schools recording poor results for the preliminary matric exams, principals across Nelson Mandela Bay say their pupils are ready.

Last week, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said "all nine provincial Education Departments [are] ready to deliver on a credible and fair examination".
