Stowaway's trip ends with arrest

A TANZANIAN stowaway who boarded a Central American cargo vessel in Durban hoping to be ferried abroad has been arrested in Port Elizabeth.

The 25-year-old man, who cannot be named until he appears in court, was arrested when the Peace Fortune, from Panama, docked in Port Elizabeth yesterday to load scrap metal.

Police spokesman Captain Stanley Jarvis said the man, who is from Dar es Salaam, was detained by Home Affairs officials after he was found by crew hiding in a cargo hold.
