Giel Mans mum on UK stash

A SLICK diamond dealer, accused of running a Ponzi scheme, has taken a R30-million secret with him to prison, where he will remain until the outcome of a trial set to start next year.

While Giel Mans, of Charlo in Port Elizabeth, maintains that there are diamonds worth R30-million sitting in a safe in the UK, he refuses to reveal the exact whereabouts of the valuable rocks to the court.

And now that the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court has refused to release him on bail, he claims that the diamonds will never be recovered.


He was remanded in custody until January 7, for a trial date.
