Pupils' brush with death

DOZENS of Port Elizabeth schoolchildren miraculously escaped death yesterday morning when the vehicle in which they were travelling rolled along Victoria Drive in Walmer and landed in the bush.

The 25 children – most of them between the ages of six and 13 – were on their way to Heatherbank Primary School in Charlo on a flatbed truck that had been converted into a taxi.

The children were taken to Livingstone Hospital where 11 were treated for shock and 14 for minor to serious injuries.
