ESKOM's latest application to Nersa for a 16% a year increase for the next five years is tantamount to stealing from the public and is absolutely ludicrous ("Consumers face another power shock", October 23).
With chief executive Brian Dames earning a cool R416000 a month, one gets this uncomfortable feeling in your stomach and I wonder if it's genuinely possible to justify such an outlandish salary, considering that this parastatal is in a shambles.
Maybe Dames should first explore other avenues of revenue, like cutting his and other executives' salaries, but alas ultimately it will be Joe Public who will have to foot the bill yet again for this government's inability to run this country.
