Lawless tow trucks

ON SUNDAY October 14 at 9.50am, I was at the red traffic light in Martin Road, Charlo, at its intersection with 17th Avenue. Suddenly I was overtaken by a tow truck.

The driver blatantly ignored the red light, turned right into 17th Avenue and sped off, obviously in search of the latest carrion on offer!

Taking into account the quite busy roads, how there was not a collision, is beyond comprehension. Why is it that these people are allowed so blatantly to ignore the general rules of the road, speed limits, barrier lines and traffic lights?

No more than 15 minutes later I left the shopping centre. At the very same intersection I saw two men dressed in dark grey/blue uniforms and wearing reflective jackets emblazoned with "Mandela Bay Traffic Services" on the back. Did they see the infringement? Unfortunately that will never be answered, because the traffic officials we ratepayers employ are totally useless!
