TWO Port Elizabeth strongmen are looking to muscle their way to bodybuilding glory in their respective weight divisions at the World Natural Bodybuilding Championships (UIBBN) in Slovakia next month.

Siwakhile Nceka and Wesley Regnart will attend the prestigious bodybuilding tournament after being selected to represent the country following the SA Championships in Kimberley last month.

The two-day event will start on November 16.

Nceka, 20, of Richmond Hill, started bodybuilding in June last year after being inspired by his karate instructor. It was an injury in karate that led him to channel his energy into bodybuilding.

"I saw my instructor's body develop and I decided to quit karate and join his bodybuilding club. I enjoy the bodybuilding because it's an individual sport and there is no physical fighting among competitors," said Nceka.

Nceka's bodybuilding career received a boost when he participated in the SA trials, held in Gelvan Park, and qualified.

Nceka will be competing in the under-75kg category and Regnart in the under-90kg category.

Regnart, 22, said he, too, was excited to be representing the country.

"I like bodybuilding because it promotes a healthy lifestyle. I would like to take up the sport as a career and turn professional," he said.
