WHAT a law that forces the registration as taxpayers of all citizens at SARS. Could the legislators not think ahead of the tremendous worry/stress this entails for our senior citizens, especially those older than 80!
Obtaining all the relevant information required by SARS is a major undertaking for many of our aged, many with no means to obtain this information or having then to visit the SARS office.
The vast majority have not had to submit tax returns for years due to their low income and low interest rates on any – if any – investments.
However of late it has been noticed that SARS staff have been extremely helpful to the aged, especially those with walking aids or wheelchairs. This is much appreciated by them.
