NELSON Mandela Bay is set for a major economic boost with multiple investments totalling hundreds of millions of rands bringing thousands of new jobs over the next three years.
With a combined estimate of 10710 jobs, the projects will hopefully put a dent in the staggering unemployment figures in the Bay as South Africa's economy looks increasingly gloomy.
The municipality's trade and investment director, Anele Qaba, told councillors at the economic development committee meeting yesterday that Clover Industries would expand its Port Elizabeth plant, in Perseverance, to increase the supply of milk on a national scale as well as produce fresh milk and Tropika for the Eastern Cape.
Qaba said the capital investment from the project would be no less than R100-million and 107 jobs would be created.
