SCHOOLS in the Eastern Cape are in desperate need of furniture, with nearly one million pupils in the Eastern Cape without chairs and desks.

The Mthatha High Court will next month hear the application filed by the Legal Resources Centre on behalf of the Centre for Child Law to compel the government to supply desks and chairs to five schools in the province experiencing dire furniture shortages.
