DA hits out at Sisulu for costly flights

FORMER defence minister Lindiwe Sisulu has spent millions of taxpayers' money on luxury flights.

In a written reply to a parliamentary question by DA MP David Maynier, incumbent Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula revealed that between 2009 and this year Sisulu chartered 203 flights on lavishly kitted-out Gulfstream executive jets operated by the Air Force.

Of these, 69 were ferry flights – flights on which Sisulu was not physically on board.
