Club football returns with a vengeance following rain disruptions

AFTER being forced to call off their fixtures for the last two weekends, it is back to business for the various local football associations across the metro this weekend.

All the teams play on municipal fields which, although it did not rain last weekend, had to be remarked. The Nodefa VW Community Trust Premier League starts with two matches at the Jabavu Stadium this evening.

Newly promoted Young Callies take on Stokes United in the early match. Callies were shaded 3-2 in their debut match while Stokes beat Khayelitsha 3-2.

Last year's runners-up City Style, who beat defending champions Kabah United Brothers in their opening match, play Argentina Stars. Kabah face New City Stars on Sunday.



BOTH Bush Bucks and Real White City will continue their battle at the top of the Nebfa Premier League on Sunday.

After six matches, both teams are unbeaten and level on points. However, Bucks are ahead on goal difference. Bucks take on Stinging Bees, while City play CCX Callies.

Defending champions PE United, who are making a comeback after a poor start, take on Roaring Tigers.



MUSTANGS and Park United could be among the goals once again on Sunday.

Before the break, Mustangs thrashed Golden Aces 5-0, while United demolished Tomorrow Stars 10-0. On Sunday, Mustangs play Walmer Ladies, while United take on Black Vultures.



ALL the teams in the Mofa Premier League face tough double-headers this weekend.

Defending champions Ikamva Movers, who are setting a cracking pace, play Angels tomorrow and Tottenham on Sunday.

On current form, they must be favoured to pick up maximum points. The logleaders have scored 13 goals with just one against in four matches.

Last year's runners-up Shining Stars, who are also on a roll, play Liverpool tomorrow.



LOGLEADERS XI Wizard could go on another goal-scoring spree on Sunday when they play St Albans in a Kuygafa Premier League fixture. In their last fixture, they thumped Seaview All Stars 11-0.

Blue Aces, who trail Wizard on goal difference, play Kuyga United.



THE Zwifa Premier League season kicks off tomorrow with a double-header. Defending champions Shining Stars play Gal City tomorrow and Golden Aces on Sunday.

Young Killers, Zwide Pirates, Camper United and Manchester City play Umanyano Stars, Major Chiefs, Soweto Angels and Little Birds respectively
