Warriors need to up the ante

THE Chevrolet Warriors will need to up their game considerably when they host the Highveld Lions in a Momentum One-Day Cup cricket fixture at Axxess St George's tomorrow.

Captain Davy Jacobs's team were knocked out cold in their opening match against the Knights in Kimberley on what turned out to be a "black" Sunday.

A 91-run defeat was not the kind of birthday present Jacobs would have been hoping for.

A fourth-wicket partnership of 78 between Jacobs (58) and Colin Ingram (70) gave the Warriors a glimmer of hope, but in the end the target was just too steep.
