Worries about qualified audit for Mandela Bay

Acting chief financial officer Selwyn Thys yesterday would not allay fears that the city could get a qualified audit next year, despite increasing speculation in the corridors of the City Hall that all was not well with the metro's books.

Thys instead told councillors yesterday that "there are challenges with the audit".

A qualified audit opinion would mean the city had no proper internal controls and that the auditor general (AG) could not verify some of the information in the financial reports.

Another step towards a collapsed city. After the litany of failures :- Faku, Kabuso, Infighting, Internal intrigues and firings by factions, Service delivery protests, wasted expenditure (too many examples to run through) , now the chickens are coming home to roost. Wake up NMB voters - we need liberation form ANC dominance, corruption and incompetence in the metro.
