EASTERN Cape Local Government MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane has appointed four senior managers to "provide support" to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality for the next six months.
If the support team was not successful in turning around the municipality, Qoboshiyane said, he would have no choice but to place the municipality under administration.
This means Qoboshiyane's department would run the institution – and the council would be dissolved.
One of the managers – the former Makana municipal manager Ntombi Baart – recently reached a settlement with that municipality which exempted her from answering to serious allegations of financial misconduct.
