HERE is your roundup of community-related events coming up over the next few weeks.

ROWING REGATTA
SCHOOL and university rowing season starts on Saturday October 13 with the Grey/Zwartkops Rowing Club regatta on the Zwartkops River from 7am. Entrance is free.

PENGUIN WADDLE
BAYWORLD in PE is having a picnic with the penguins on Monday October 15; tickets R20 (adults), R10 (children) from Oceanarium. Inquiries: [email protected]

BAVIAANSKLOOF
FRIENDS of the Baviaanskloof will meet at the Newton Park Library Auditorium on Wednesday October 17 at 7.30pm. Entrance is free. Inquiries: Mike, 082-361-2718.

FETE
THE Walmer Service Centre (Echo Foundation) will hold a féte on Saturday October 20 at 9am at Laubscher Park East in Walmer, entrance via Villiers Road, between 14th Avenue and Crane Road.  Inquiries: Bridget (041)368-1628.

FLORAL DEMO
A FLORAL demonstration "Celebrating the Joy of Christmas” will  be held on November 3 at 2.30pm at the Italian Sporting Club, Harold Road in Charlo, PE; tickets R60 (includes refreshments). Inquiries: Gail, 082-651-1391.

RETIRED NURSES
THE Retired Nurses’ Association will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesdy October 17 at 2pm at 4 Madala Street in New Brighton, PE. Inquiries: (041)454-2616.

VILLAGE MARKET
THE Schoenies Village Market takes place on Sunday October 14 from 9am-1pm at the tennis court and park area, corner of Salix Lane and Victoria Drive in PE. Inquiries: Margie, 084-916-0281.

BOOT SALE

CROCHET CLASSES

LIFESAVING RETEST
LIFESAVING retests will be held at Kings Beach in PE and Nahoon Beach in East London on Sunday October 14 at 9am; bring ID and a copy of ID. Cost R700 (non-LSA members) R500 (LSA / penalty for late retest). Inquiries: (041)585-5413.

GOLF FUNDRAISER
THE Pearson Street Congregational Church will be having a fundraiser golf day on Sunday October 14 at the Walmer Country Club at 11.30am. Inquiries: Vernon, 084-821-1372.

ADDO ROSE SHOW
THE Addo Rose and Garden Show is taking place at the Valentine Hall in Addo on Saturday and Sunday October 13 and 14. Entrance is R50 (adults) and R10 (children under 13). Inquiries: Nita, (042)234-0422.
* The 1820 Settlers Association is offering a day coach trip to the Rose Show on Saturday October 13. Cost is R130 (members) and R140 (non-members), including entrance fee. Inquiries: Sue, (041)585-3416.

RIVER CRUISES

BONSAI MEETING

MOTOR MANIA
THE Petrol Head Paradise Moto Show, a consumer automotive lifestyle experience, is taking place  at the Moffett on Main Lifestyle Centre in PE from Wednesday to on Sunday October 10-14 from 9am to 6pm. Tickets are R30 (adults), R15 (pensioners) and R10 (u-18s).

CHARITY SHOP
THE Ability Browse Around shop has opened at 82 Cape Road in PE. It has  a wide range of quality clothing, furniture and bric-a-brac. All proceeds in aid of the Association for Persons with Physical Disabilities. Inquiries: Silvia, (041)373-3151.

FLEA MARKET
THE Kings Beach flea market takes place every Sunday, weather permitting, from 9am on the Kings Beach walkway in PE Inquiries: Madeleine, 076-379-5300.

LAUGHTER CLUB

HIKING CLUB
THE "Voetsac” Hiking Club runs weekend hikes and day walks and has its monthly social meeting at 7pm the third Wednesday of each month at the German Club in Lorraine, PE. Inquiries: Trevor, (041)368-3761.

PENSIONERS
THE  SA Association of Retired Persons (PE East) holds regular socials, bingo, coach trips, braais and meals out for persons over 50. Inquiries: Brian, (041)581-3267.

BUSINESS MEETING
THE Business Network International, a business referral group, meets every Tuesday from 7 to 8am at the PE Club at 12 Bird Street, Central, PE. No charge other than your breakfast. Inquiries: 084-209-2404.

EDUCARE CENTRE
SHANA’S Educare Centre for children from the ages of 18 months1 1/2 to five5 years old in Gelvan Park, PE, is open for registration for 2013. Inquiries: (041)452-6091.

SUPPORT GROUP
LA LECHE League, a breast-feeding support group, meets in PE on the second Saturday of every month. They also offer telephonic help on (041)583-1577, 082-823-5491;    072-130-9879 or (041)367-2659.

YOGA CLASSES
