Health MEC on the warpath in Bay

PROVINCIAL Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana is on the warpath in Nelson Mandela Bay - he wants to know what happened to the 15 doctors who were meant to be redeployed from other areas of the Eastern Cape to hospitals in the city.

Gqobana is holding an emergency meeting at the Port Elizabeth Hospital Complex at 10am today to establish why his instructions have been ignored.

His spokesman, Sizwe Kupelo, said the doctors - who had been brought to the Eastern Cape to perform their community service - were meant to serve at the Livingstone, Dora Nginza and Provincial hospitals in Port Elizabeth. An angry Gqobana was now demanding to know why they had not been redeployed there as instructed.
