A PORT Elizabeth women's rights activist has started a lobby group to push for changes to the laws involving sex crimes and violence against women and children.
Lindsay Ziehl, who runs the Yokhuselo Haven for abused women and children, said in a Facebook post launching the group at the weekend that "[the] time has come to stop talking and start doing".
"If we don't like some laws ... we need to change them. [The time for] conferences, dinners and parties is over. We need to do - not talk, talk, talk. That's been going on for years. Nothing has changed. [We must] stand up and be counted."
Several lawyers had joined the lobby group by yesterday.
The launch of the group comes after the horrific rapes of two young girls - aged four and six - in separate incidents in Humansdorp and Joubertina at the weekend.
To join the lobby group contact Stephanie on (041) 585-4265.
