NELSON Mandela Bay councillors berated newly appointed city manager Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela yesterday for not attending a critical meeting that was meant to finalise the metro's annual report.
Msengana-Ndlela did not attend the municipal public accounts committee meeting (MPAC) because she was wrapping up matters with outgoing mayor Zanoxolo Wayile before he leaves at the end of the week.
COPE and UDM councillors said the excuse for her absence was political and therefore "unacceptable". COPE councillor Khwezi Ntshanyana said: "We understood when she missed the last two MPAC meetings because she was still trying to find her feet, but we thought that she would be here to go through the finalising process of the annual report because it entails huge challenges in her departments."
